Herman asks:

We are reviewing our payroll processing schedule for 2012. What is the holiday schedule for 2012?

Answer: There are two types of holidays: those on which payrolls are processed and those on which payrolls are not processed. In addition, companies should also consider that there is no mail pickup or delivery on federal holidays.

UPS Holiday Delivery Schedule Varies

UPS may pickup and deliver on certain holidays, but may not pickup or deliver on other days that are not holidays. Consult the UPS website for further information. The schedule for 2012 holidays is as follows:

Thanksgiving Day Is Next Federal Holiday

The next federal holiday will be Thursday, November 24, 2011, Thanksgiving Day. Contact Vision Payroll as soon as possible to make changes to or for questions on your processing schedule.

Monday, October 10, 2011 will be Columbus Day, a federal holiday. Although the offices of Vision Payroll will be open and payrolls will be processed, most banks will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Monday, September 5, 2011 will be Labor Day, a federal holiday. The offices of Vision Payroll will close Friday, September 2 at 5 pm EDT and re-open Tuesday September 6. Most banks will also be closed in observance of the holiday.

Monday, May 30, 2011 will be Memorial Day, a federal holiday. The offices of Vision Payroll will close Friday May 27 at 5 pm EDT and re-open Tuesday May 31. Most banks will also be closed in observance of the holiday.

Washington’s Birthday Is Next Federal Holiday

The next federal holiday will be Monday, February 21, 2011, Washington’s Birthday. Contact Vision Payroll as soon as possible to make changes to or for questions on your processing schedule.

Saturday, January 1, 2011 will be New Year’s Day, a federal holiday. The offices of Vision Payroll will close New Year’s Eve, December 31 at 2 pm EST and re-open Monday January 3. Most banks will also be closed in observance of the holiday. Payroll changes and hours must be submitted before the processing deadlines as listed below.

Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. Is Next Federal Holiday

Due to heavy USPS and UPS delivery requirements, we strongly recommend submitting payrolls during this time as early as practicable. UPS does not ship ground deliveries received on December 31 until January 3 so we do not recommend submitting payrolls on that date. The next federal holiday will be January 17, 2011, the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. Contact Vision Payroll as soon as possible to make changes to or for questions on your processing schedule.

Saturday, December 25, 2010 will be Christmas Day, a federal holiday. The offices of Vision Payroll will close Christmas Eve, December 24 at 2 pm EST and re-open Monday December 27. Most banks will also be closed in observance of the holiday. Payroll changes and hours must be submitted before the processing deadlines as listed below.

Due to heavy USPS and UPS delivery requirements as well as limited bank hours and staffing, we strongly recommend submitting payrolls during this time as early as practicable. UPS does not ship ground deliveries received on December 24 until December 27 so we do not recommend submitting payrolls on that date.
