Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report Update for September 19, 2009
According to the US Department of Labor, in the week ending September 19, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 530,000, a decrease of 21,000 from the previous week’s revised figure of 551,000. The 4-week moving average was 553,500, a decrease of 11,000 from the previous week’s revised average of 564,500.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 4.6% for the week ending September 12, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from the prior week’s unrevised rate of 4.7%.
The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending September 12 was 6,138,000, a decrease of 123,000 from the preceding week’s revised level of 6,261,000. The 4-week moving average was 6,187,250, a decrease of 1,250 from the preceding week’s revised average of 6,188,500.
The fiscal year-to-date average for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment for all programs is 5.651 million.
