Levin, Acting Director, Michigan Department of Energy, Labor &amp; Economic Growth<\/div>\r\n<\/div>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/uia\" target=\"_blank\">Unemployment Insurance Agency<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/dleg\/\" target=\"_blank\">State of Michigan Department of Energy, Labor &amp; Economic Growth<\/a>, the FUTA tax credit reduction rate will increase from 0.3% in 2009 to 0.6% in 2010.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Standard Credit Rate is 5.4% for 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Generally, employers who pay their state unemployment tax by the due date for filing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/old.visionpayroll.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/f940-dft-20100808.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 940, Employer&#8217;s Annual Federal Unemployment (FUTA) Tax Return<\/a>\u00a0receive a credit 5.4% against their Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA) tax. The credit reduction is calculated on <a href=\"https:\/\/old.visionpayroll.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/f940sa-dft-20100909.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Schedule A<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/old.visionpayroll.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/f940-dft-20100808.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Form 940<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michigan Is Subject To Credit Reduction for Second Consecutive Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since Michigan was already subject to a credit reduction in 2009 of 0.3%, the credit reduction will increase to 0.6% for 2010.
